IRIS is an internationally recognised standard designed for the evaluation of suppliers and their management systems in the railway industry. IRIS is based on the quality standard DIN EN ISO 9001 supplemented by the specific requirements of the rolling stock industry.
In recent years, rail transport has been greatly liberalised. IRIS is the answer to the requirements of railway operators and manufacturers regarding systematic quality assurance and control. For this reason, manufacturers of rolling stock have demanded a certification according to IRIS from their A-suppliers since 2009.
